What this site promises, and what it does not.

Who you are agreeing with

This website is published and operated by Manmohan Agarwal of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, who founded and runs the Jaipur World Record Carnival. Where these terms say we or us, that is who is meant. Where they say you, that is whoever is reading the site.

Using the site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simply not to use it — nothing here requires an account, and nothing here is charged for.

How your information is handled is a separate document, and the more important of the two: the privacy notice.

Using this site

Read it, share it, quote it. Do not scrape it, break it, or use the form to send things nobody asked for.

You are welcome to read these pages, link to them, and quote them with attribution. What is not welcome, and what you agree not to do:

• Attempt to gain access to the enquiry console, the database, or any part of the site not offered to the public.
• Use automated means to copy the site wholesale, or to submit the form.
• Send anything through the form that is unlawful, abusive, deliberately false, or in somebody else's name.
• Use the form for advertising, recruitment or bulk messaging. It is a way to start a conversation about a record attempt and nothing else.
• Interfere with the site's operation, or with anybody else's use of it.

A submission from the same connection more than five times in an hour is refused automatically. That is a defence against scripts, not against people; if a genuine enquiry meets it, ring instead.

The records, and what the claims mean

The figures are stated as they were recorded on the day. Certification, where a record has it, came from a record body — and that body's decision is the one that counts, not ours.

This site describes record attempts and the figures they reached, as those figures were counted and recorded at the time. Several have been certified by record-keeping organisations — Guinness World Records, the Limca Book of Records and the India Book of Records among them. Certification is theirs to give: each organisation sets its own criteria and applies them on the day, and where a record carries a certificate, that certificate is the authority for it, not this website.

The pages here do not set out, record by record, which body certified which attempt or on what date. If you need that for a report, an application or a piece of journalism, ask — the certificates exist and can be shown. Please do not infer from a record's presence on this site that any particular organisation has certified it.

Records are, by their nature, superseded. A figure described here as a world record was one when it was set and when this page was last revised. We do not monitor other people's attempts, and nothing on this site should be read as a claim that a record still stands today.

Photographs on this site are of the events they are captioned as. Where a page uses a drawing rather than a photograph, it is a drawing — an illustration of what an object is, made because no usable photograph exists — and it is not offered as a picture of the object.

If you believe something here is wrong, please say so. Corrections are made and the page's date is moved.

Sending an enquiry

Sending the form starts a conversation. It does not book an event, register you for anything, or oblige either of us to go ahead.

The form on the Take part page is an expression of interest. When you send it you get a reference and, in the ordinary course, a phone call. That is the whole of what it does. In particular:

• It is not a booking. No date, venue or attempt is reserved by sending it, and none is held for you.
• It does not oblige us to proceed. Not every attempt that is proposed can be attempted; capacity, timing and the rules of the record body all decide that, and sometimes the answer is no.
• It does not oblige you to proceed. You can say no at any point, for any reason or none, and nothing is owed.
• It is free. There is no charge for enquiring and no charge for the conversation that follows.

You agree that what you send is true — your own name, a number that reaches you, and an honest account of what you are proposing. An enquiry sent in somebody else's name wastes a phone call that a real school was waiting for.

If you use the WhatsApp button instead, your message goes to WhatsApp and reaches us there. It is the same enquiry with the same standing; only the road it travels is different. See the privacy notice for what that means.

If an attempt goes ahead

A real attempt is arranged in writing, separately. These terms are about the website; they are not the agreement for an event.

Where a conversation turns into an actual attempt, the arrangements — dates, venue, responsibilities, safety, insurance, photography, consent for participating children, and what each side is providing — are agreed separately and in writing at that point. Those arrangements govern the event. Nothing on this website forms part of them, and nothing here should be relied on as though it did.

Record attempts happen in real places with real crowds. Responsibility for the venue, for permissions, for the safety of the people you bring and for compliance with local requirements is settled in that written agreement, before anybody gathers.

Who owns what is on these pages

The photographs, the writing and the design are ours. The record bodies' names and marks are theirs.

The text, photographs, illustrations, layout and design of this site belong to Manmohan Agarwal, except where stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright. Jaipur World Record Carnival is used as our mark.

You may quote and link to this site — for a news report, a school project, a post — with attribution and a link back. What needs asking first is republishing a photograph or a page in full, using anything here commercially, or using the Carnival's name or marks in a way that suggests we are involved in something we are not. Asking is easy; the number is at the foot of this page.

Guinness World Records, Limca Book of Records and India Book of Records are the trade marks of their respective owners. They are named here to identify who certified what. Naming them is not a claim of endorsement, sponsorship or partnership by them.

Photographs of participants are published with the consent obtained for the event they were taken at. If you appear in a photograph on this site and would rather not, tell us and it comes down — no explanation needed.

Links to other people's services

The WhatsApp button, the telephone link and the email link hand you to somebody else. What happens there is their business, not ours.

This site links out in only a few places, and each is a handover: the WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp, the telephone number opens your dialler, the email address opens your mail application. Once you are there you are using that service under its own terms and its own privacy policy. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.

No advertising, no third-party analytics and no embedded content from other sites runs on these pages, so there is nothing else here quietly connecting you to somebody we have not named.

Availability, and the limits of liability

The site is offered as it is. It is free, it is careful, and it is not guaranteed to be perfect or permanently available.

We take real care over what is published here and correct mistakes when we learn of them. Even so, the site is provided on an as is basis: we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available, and pages may be changed, moved or withdrawn without notice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website — lost profits, lost opportunity, or loss arising from reliance on information here that has since changed. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

This section is about the website. Where an attempt has actually been arranged in writing, that agreement governs what each side is responsible for.

The law that applies

Indian law, and the courts at Jaipur — but a phone call first.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from this website.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Not enforcing something on one occasion is not a waiver of it.

Changes to these terms

The date at the top is the whole history. Changes apply from that date, not backwards.

These terms will change as the site changes. When they do, the last changed date at the top of this page moves, and the revised terms apply to use of the site from that date onward. They do not alter an agreement already made about an attempt.

Earlier versions are recorded in the public repository the site is built from, so what this page said on any given day can be established rather than remembered.
